Lyn has been involved in financial services and the financial advice profession for over 20 years.  Her current position of Area Manager Southern for Westpac's Private Bank is based in Wellington and involves leading the Private Bank team in the Lower North and South Islands - 25 Advisers in all looking after the financial needs of the Bank's most highly valued personal customers.  Lyn and her team are able to provide their customers with the full range of financial advisory services from transactional banking and lending advice to the comprehensive financial planning service.

Lyn's qualifications include a Graduate Certificate in Management from Charles Stuart University, NSW, Australia and the Graduate Diploma in Business Studies (Endorsed in Personal Financial Planning) from Massey University.  She also holds the Certified Financial Planner mark.

Current President of the IFA and Chair of IFA's Audit Committee, immediate past Chair of the College of Financial Planners, and in 2005/06 was Chair of the Organising Committee for Success Forum 2006.

Helping to raise the professional standards of financial advice in New Zealand is a particular concern of Lyn's and, in addition to her work with the IFA, she is heavily involved in mentoring and training people who are keen to progress as financial planners and relationship managers.

She is a member of Women in Superannuation and the Institute of Directors, and is a  Senior Associate of Finsia.  She is also a contributor to the book "Women 2 Women" - an inspirational book for women profiling over 70 New Zealand women sharing tips for success in business, career and other aspects of life.

Away from work, Lyn and Ed have four children between them - three grown up and one still living at home.  They lead a busy social life revolving around entertaining, collecting and drinking wine and Wellington's cultural events.  When time permits, she can be seen walking the dog around the Khandallah hills or the Wellington waterfront but would prefer to curl up somewhere quiet and read a good book.

I am director of Optimum Professional Services Ltd, a company providing financial advice and services primarily to clients in Taranaki.  I hold a NZ Diploma in Business and am a Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU).  My primary business is insurance but my main business focus is in life planning and mentoring; services for which I charge fees as well as commissions.

Since 2003 I have been involved in the following areas:

•  Asia Pacific Financial Services Assn (APFinSA); Principal delegate (2004-present)

I value education, integrity and the need to have a strong national organisation that represents both.  Key achievements during my tenure have been the development of the Certificate in Financial Services (CFS), substantial increases in CLU designations, liaison with tertiary education providers, paralleling the education path for CLU and CFP, strengthening relationships in the Asia Pacific region and "championing" the needs of insurance advisers in the organisation.

My Mission is to keep the Institute on track with the core values of professionalism, personal development and "Client first, last and always".  I will do my best.

I also chair the Taranaki Special Needs Trust whose role it is to provide rehabilitation and therapy facilities for people with physical disabilities.

I love laughing at myself (usually because everyone is laughing at me, so why buck the trend).  My family keeps my grounded and my life philosophy is "Carpe Jugulum", one which I share with vampires - and bull terriers.

  Jordi is a founding director and principal of New Zealand Financial Planning and has over 23 years experience in the financial services industry, with the last 20 in financial planning.  Prior to financial planning Jordi worked in the banking and mortgage broking industries and gained experience putting together tax orientated structures for investors.  He is a Certified Financial Planner (CFPCM).

Jordi was awarded the 2001 New Zealand Financial Planner of the Year Award sponsored by Good Returns Magazine, for excellence and professionalism within the industry.

For the last 16 years Jordi has also tutored and lectured at the University of Auckland on a part-time basis in Engineering Economics and Management Accounting for the School of Engineering, and Accounting and Personal Financial Planning for the Department of Continuing Education and the University's Centre for Professional Development.

Jordi served for 20 years as a part-time member of the Territorial Force of the NZ Army finishing in 1999 as the Commanding Officer of the 3rd Auckland (CRO) and Northland Battalion, Royal New Zealand Infantry Regiment as a Lieutenant Colonel.  He was awarded the Efficiency Decoration (E.D.) in 1992.

In 2001 he joined Rotary and is a member of the Rotary Club of Henderson.  Jordi and his wife Sara have four children and live on the North Shore.  Currently Jordi's interests revolve around the family.  In addition he loves to read a good book, playing games and enjoys keeping fit.

I have been working in the New Zealand financial services industry in both advisory and management capacities since June 1990, including operating our own insurance and investment brokerage business with my business partner for ten years.

Since entering the industry I have been actively involved in the LUA, and subsequent transformation until it became the IFA, at branch level.  In 2006 I was co-erced onto the Board of the IFA, taking on the role of Chair of the College of Insurance Advisers.  Over the years I gradually completed the various IITC courses and Massey diploma, finishing in 1997, resulting in CFP.  I became eligible at that time for the ChFC (Chartered Financial Consultant) designation, which I was granted in 1998.  Following further study I eventually attained CLU status also in early 2005.

I am a firm believer that by co-operating with other organisations in our industry we can create a true profession of financial advisers, which must result in better advice and service to New Zealanders, and respect for the practitioners in the industry.

At a personal level, I am married to Judith and have been for a very long time.  I am an Australian, but could be more accurately described as an Australian Cantabrian.  Judith is just 100% red and black.  Before moving to NZ (back home in Judith's case) we were both reasonably well travelled as I was in the Australian Navy, the last three years was in Submarines, (which is a poor way to travel) and Judith was in the New Zealand Navy.  When spare time suddenly presents itself these days I try to spend it on developing a large-ish garden, playing golf, and drinking and eating with friends.  Having sold my interest in our business in late 2007, I have taken on the role of Senior Business Development Manager with Fidelity Life, based in Christchurch.

David Hutton has had a wide and varied career before joining IFA as its chief executive.  Having begun his career as an auditor, David had almost 20 years in senior roles in businesses where managed investment funds, insurance, retail distribution, public sector policy and strategy linked to change processes were common themes.  This included senior roles in Government Life (now Tower) and ACC, five years with the International Monetary Fund in Washington and eight and a half years as chief executive of Public Trust (NZ's largest business).  After leaving Public Trust, David had five years in consulting roles, mainly in Pacific Islands countries on SOE strategy, financial management, project management planning, and governance.

He has masters degrees in accounting and public policy as well as undergraduate majors in economics and public administration.  He is a Fellow Chartered Accountant and has had experience in setting the entry educational requirements for NZ chartered accountants.

David is also a board member of Trust House Limited and the Open Polytechnic of NZ.  As the only non-musical member of his family he contributes his management and financial management skills as a volunteer board member of SOUNZ (the Centre of NZ Music Trust) and Wellington Chamber Music Society.  David is married to Heather and has three adult sons.  Recreational interests include attending concerts, tramping, cooking and wine.
